If you are citizen of EVS eligible countries, aged between 20 and 30 years old and you are interested to participate to an Erasmus+ / European Volunteer Service (EVS) programme in some of the most pristine Protected Areas of Epirus Region, Greece, then express your interest now by sending an email to info@greentraveller.gr
We are about to submit a relevant proposal to the Management Bodies of National Parks in Epirus Region. National Park Authorities will apply for an Erasmus+/ EVS project at the forthcoming deadline of 17th of March, in order to host up to 8 young people, as volunteers for the project "Volunteering in Protected Areas", starting between 17 June and 31 December.
Our organisation will be responsible for arranging subsistence, lodging and local transports of volunteers; envisaging tasks and activities for volunteers that respect the qualitative principles of the European Voluntary Service, as described in the EVS Charter; providing to volunteers an on-going task-related, linguistic, personal and administrative support throughout the duration of the activity. Volunteers, working closely with National Park’s staff and inspiring environmentalists will undertake various field work and office duties to assist in the implementation of the Parks’ day-to-day Management and conservation efforts. Eramus+ helps young people aged between 17 and 30 to improve their skills and employment prospects through unpaid and full - time voluntary service within or outside the European Union for periods of between 2 weeks and 12 months. Volunteers are given the opportunity to contribute to the daily work of organisations dealing with youth information, socio-educational development, educational development, civic engagement, social care, inclusion of disadvantaged, environment, non-formal education programmes, ICTs and media literacy, culture and creativity, development cooperation, etc. (by Vassilis Kouroutos) More on EVS official site

In Metsovo village, the race "Running in the footsteps of Bears - 2014" will take place on June 1st, 2014. The total length of the race route is 36.5 km with 2.350m height difference. It passes through some of the most historic trails and special aesthetic and natural value sites in the region. The first part with a length of 20 km is located to the east of Arachthos river and the second with a length of 16.5 km is located to the west Arachthos closed to Metsovo village. On January 5, during our visit to Amvrakikos National Park we were amazed from the beauty and bird richness of this astonishing area (by Vassilis Kouroutos). The Dalmatian pelican (Pelecanus crispus) observed during our visit in Amvrakikos Gulf.
